TFC/FCT Foster Care

Connecticut's Children Need You

A Therapeutic Parent is a part of the foster child’s team of professionals; a number of people working together to help each child to succeed in life to the best of his or her own ability.

Therapeutic Foster Care programs care for children ages 6 and older in the DCF system. At this time, CRI is actively recruiting for families willing to foster/adopt children 11 and up. Although CRI does receive referrals for under the age of 11, it is a rarity, and there is a dire need in the State of CT for families willing to work with older children.

Can’t commit to a child full time right now?

Become a Respite Care Provider!

Respite care is like “professional babysitting” for foster children. You would be the one that foster parents turn to for a break, whether that is for a weekend, a few afternoons a week after school, or to cover a foster parent’s out of town trip. The approval process is the same as it would be for a full licensure, however, the long-term commitment isn't as demanding as a full-time placement. If you later decide you'd like a full-time placement, its as easy as saying so!

For more information about respite care, call 860-621-7600 x124 or email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. today!

Make sure to include your name, address, and a phone number where you can be reached when leaving a message for our recruiter. This way, she can send an informational packet out to you ASAP!
