Training FAQs

Who do I call about cancellations and weather delays?

You can receive information regarding training cancellations and delays by calling the Center for Professional Development at 860-878-6858 and dialing 1 or extension 100.  If there are any delays or cancellations on that specific day there will be a recorded message.  You can also tune to WFSB on your television.  Training delays and cancellations will be listed as CRI Newington on the bottom of the television screen.

Who do I call to RSVP/Register for a training?  Staff have three options.

  • CRI employees can call the Center for Professional Development at 860-878-6858 ext 500 (RSVP Extension).  Leave a message with your name, the specific training you wish to sign up for and your telephone number.  The Center for Professional Development will only return phone calls in the event there is an issue.

  • RSVP on our Website at www.criinc.org.  Follow the links for the Center of Professional Development and complete the RSVP contact form. 
  • Community and Outside agencies can call 860-878-6858 and leave a message at extension 500, the training RSVP line.  If you need immediate assistance you can dial zero and someone from the Professional Development Center can help direct your call.

How do I cancel a training I am signed up for?

Call the Center for Professional Development at 860-878-6858 ext 500 (RSVP Extension).  Leave a message with your name, the specific training you wish to cancel and your telephone number.  The Center for Professional Development will only return phone calls in the event there is an issue.

How soon in advance can I sign up for training?

We ask that staff only RSVP two months in advance for trainings they wish to attend.

If I'm late how do I make up training?

New staff can call either their recruiters for make up dates or speak to a staff member at The Center for Professional Development.  Returning employees can look at the training calendar on the intranet or speak to their managers regarding the next available training dates they need to sign up for.  Returning employees can then RSVP to extension 500.

Is there anyplace nearby for lunch?

The Training Center is conveniently located near the Berlin Turnpike.  Some of the lunch options in this area are McDonalds, Burger King, Subway, Dunkin Donuts, Chinese food, and Italian fare.

Do you serve snacks?

The Center for Professional Development provides coffee and tea for its training recipients.  There is also a Poland Spring water fountain available.

Can you tell me how I’m supposed to know if I need training?

Staff can contact their Program Manager or supervisor for a copy of their training grid which identifies when their trainings were last completed and when they are due by.  New employees should contact their recruiters in the event they do not know which trainings they need.

How much is each training?

Prices for each training vary depending on the needs of the individual/agency.  CRI can tailor the trainings offered to meet the needs of the agencies and individuals that call.  Individuals interested in the trainings offered should call 860-878-6858 and speak to the Center for Professional Development staff.

How many staff will fit into the training rooms?

The Charter Oak room can seat up to sixty participants.
The Pine Room can seat up to forty participants.
