Day Programs & Support

Community Residences Inc. has several options for vocational and non-vocational day supports.  Choosing the best option is an individual choice and is based on preference, individual circumstance and future goals. The staff at CRI believes regardless of the option an individual chooses, their program supports should be based on personal preference, choice and respect.

Adult Day Program

The Adult Day Program option is available for individuals who do not wish to work.  Individuals participating in this day option often have significant physical, medical and habilitative support needs.  CRI is committed to creating a comfortable, homelike environment where individuals can enjoy a variety of leisure and community experiences based on personal preference.  Needs and preferences are identified through assessment with individual and family/guardian input.  A specific, individualized and strength driven plan for meeting positioning, activities of daily living, therapeutic interventions and medical needs is developed and implemented by Direct Care Professionals.

In-Home Support

The In-Home Support option is available for individuals living at home or in a nursing home that wish to have opportunities to engage in leisure and community experiences but do not wish to go to a community based program.  Individuals participating in this program receive supports based on their personal requests and preferences.  Times that the support staff visit and engage individuals in activities may vary by day and time and are based on individualized day agreements.

Vocational Opportunities

Individualized Day Non-Vocational opportunities exist for people who do not wish to work and do not wish to attend a community based program.  Typically individuals participating in this program have support staff throughout day program hours based from their own home.  Support staff will assist individuals in defining an activity schedule based on personal preference and need.

Vocational Opportunities Include:

  • Individualized day Vocational opportunities exist for people who wish to work in non typical employment options.  Individuals may be capable of very independent work but require some support of staff to fulfill employment obligations.  CRI staff currently support individuals who provide lawn care and cleaning services.
  • Group Supported Employment (GSE) opportunities exist for individuals capable of working in small groups.  A Job Coach will work with a small group of individuals who have similar support needs to accomplish the job, interact with the employer and provide quality assurance at the job site. GSE will assist individuals in gaining greater skills and independence for future competitive employment.

The Adult Service Program staff work collaboratively with the individual, family, guardian and DDS to identify specific support needs and to develop a plan to assure the individual lives a healthy, involved and fully integrated life.

Funding for day supports may come from DDS, private pay or DSS.  For more information regarding day support options please contact Sherri Mallinson at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
